The London trip was much more than I had expected it to be. Every day, there was some new surprise in store for me. After a week, I almost started looking forward to each day that approaches. My aunt almost guessed what places would interest me. She had planned the entire stay perfectly. It was on the sixth day of my stay that we visited the Tower of London.
Power of the Tower Of London
The Tower of London is nothing but Her Majesty’s Royal Palace and Fortress. The lovely fortress is located very close to the river Thames in Central London. The tower holds great significance in the history of London. The fortress has been responsible for the power of the rulers. The castle was even used as a prison during the 16th and 17th centuries.
The Architecture of the Tower Of London
The unique architecture of the tower is definitely distinct and attractive. Tourists from around the world will find it completely worthwhile to visit the tower and have a glimpse of its unique royal architecture.
The St John’s Chapel
The Chapel now appears plain and simple. It does not have any special decorations and appears to be in a condition of neglect. During the reign of Henry III, there used to be a gold plated cross and the interiors of the chapel were perfectly decorated.
Huge Area Leaves One Dumbstruck
The tower is huge with an inner ward and an outer ward. The proper division of the fortress into different sections makes one realise how huge the structure is. I was completely perplexed to see such a huge fortress. I thoroughly enjoyed it. My aunt and I clicked several pictures which were surely very memorable moments to both of us.
On Our Way Back
The entire first half of the the day was spent in admiring the ginormous structure from the Victorian times. On our return journey, we decided to visit the Design Museum which is located pretty close to the Tower of London. The design museum has a vast collection of contemporary designs in different areas like architecture, fashion and even graphics.
