Madame Tussauds London – Famous For Its Lifelike Wax Figures

After having a sound sleep on one of the most comfortable beds I have ever seen in my life, we woke up early the next day. Since our work would begin from the third day of our landing, we had two days to explore the city completely. So we had our breakfast at one of the restaurants near the hotel and then hired a private cab which would take us to different tourist spots in London. We decided to begin with Madame Tussauds London.

There is no doubt about the fact that I have heard about the museum and seen pictures in newspapers from time to time. But the feeling of being present there in reality was simply awesome. I have also visited different branches of the museum in other parts of the world but it was for the first time that I was going to visit the main museum.

It is located in the central part of London and is housed in a building which previously served as the London Planetarium. I was extremely excited for finally having the opportunity to view wax figures of some of the most popular people in the history of Earth.

It is extremely popular for recreating life size models of wax belonging to celebrities from across the globe. It was established in the year 1884 as the first Madame Tussauds. It was initially set up Marie Tussaud herself on Marylebone Road. We had to pay £24.75 each in order to enter the museum. The online price of the tickets was lower than that of tickets available from the counter. On entering the museum, we decided to begin with our very own Bollywood section.

I was spellbound on seeing the wax figures of Amitabh Bachchan, Salman Khan and Shahrukh Khan. It was as if they were standing there in reality and smiling at me; such was the magnificence of the architect. It also houses figures of Madhuri Dixit, Kareena Kapoor, Aishwarya Rai, Hrithik Roshan and Katrina Kaif. Then we moved on towards the Hollywood section where we found figures of Kate Winslet, Johnny Depp, Charlie Chaplin, Bruce Wills, Leonardo DiCaprio, George Clooney, etc. One of my friends was excited to find figures of Marvel superheroes like Iron Man, Captain America, Spiderman, etc.

The Much Awaited Visit To Madame Tussauds London

I am a great fan of art and architecture. I love creativity in any form. I have always marvelled at the beauty of different sculptures in India. A few months back, when a wax museum opened in Lonavala, I was the first one to visit the place. I was not aware then that I would actually get a chance to be in the world’s most popular wax museum. I thoroughly appreciate my aunt’s perfect planning. I must also agree she knows a lot about my taste.

Our Journey

We took a cab and were heading to Madame Tussauds. It was a very enjoyable journey. I had learnt now that my aunt was pretty good at arranging surprises. I was excited when I figured out we were heading to the museum. I always wanted to witness the wax statues in person.

The Life-like Replicas

The museum is truly huge and has so many statues in it that we really didn’t know where to start. I had carried my cellphone along and was not very sure whether they allowed photography inside the museum. I was completely surprised to hear that photography is allowed inside the museum. There were statues of Kings and Queens. They even had a separate section for the great thinkers around the world. The Bollywood section was completely enjoyable.

The Best We Witnessed

While all the statues and idols were impeccably made, some of these were particularly impressive. I would say the sculpture of Shahrukh Khan was really life-like. I clicked a picture with the Bollywood romance icon. I also loved the statues of Barack Obama and Madhuri Dixit. I must say I wasn’t pleased by the statue of Hrithik Roshan. I was also disappointed by the statue of Amitabh Bachan.

The Perfect Tourist Location

I must say all tourists who visit London must visit the museum. It is a lovely place for tourists. You can click pictures with the great personalities of the world. It is thoroughly worth the money you invest. I enjoyed the visit and wish to be there again when I can.
